Scarlett O'hara Hamilton Kennedy Butler

Now... I wanted to write a blog on why Scarlett is the most amazing fictional character ever created, her strengths and attributes and why I love her!

1. Every guy wants her: Charles Hamilton, Frank Kennedy, Rhett Butler, and finally Ashley Wilkes.

2. She made it through her first two husbands dying. Maybe she didn't really love them... but that shows strength too, she was willing to marry men she didn't love in order to support her family and Tara.

3. The Civil War, she made it through the war and reconstruction.

4. She gave birth to 3 children (4 if you read the sequel). Enough said.

5. Starvation, Scarlett and her family, not to mention the wilkes', faced near death during and after the civil war. But Scarlett was able to make the most out of her beloved Tara.

6. Back-stabbing old biddies (especially India Wilkes) who thought she was only out to get Ashley (which may have been true). Scarlett faced them all down and showed them that she did not care what they had to say about her.

7. Losing Melanie. It may have taken her too long to realize how much she loved and needed Melly, but it would be like finding your best friend and having her ripped away from you the second you've realized the depth of your kindred spirits. Melanie knew that Scarlett loved her though.

8. The death of her beloved daughter Bonnie. Scarlett persevered through that trying time, and fought onwards. She also lost her Mother Ellen, and her father Gerald, both of whom she loved dearly. Scarlett was left to care for her two younger sisters.

9. The miscarriage. Rhett accidentally pushed her down the stairs forcing her to lose her unborn child. That was a scarring and emotional trauma. Again Scarlett fought on.

10. Living your life with a belief in your love of one man, only to find out, you've loved your husband the whole time. It would have been very difficult for Scarlett to admit that she was wrong about her love for Ashley.

11. Losing all of your childhood friends in a war that you don't even support. She was against the war from the start, and to have her first husband and all of her friends (both of the Tarleton twins!) die

12. She isn't beautiful, but nobody ever noticed that about her, she was just so charming.

13. She was one of the only women making money on her own, in a world where it was taboo for her to be doing so. Yet she still managed to so in a society that ostrascised women like Belle Watling for doing so in an untasteful manner.

14. She wore corsets, that must have hurt.

15. The one man she truely loved left her. That must have been the most painful experience for Scarlett above everything else. She realized too late that it wasn't Ashley that she loved it was Rhett. Because its tragic for them to be on different paths when clearly they are meant to be together
